After a long and exciting wait, our Tagua Animal Pendants are now stocked in shops all round the country!
This collection is hand carved from Tagua by the Sosote Fair Trade Project in Ecuador. Laura went out and worked alongside Darwin, Carlos and Ronald to develop this cute range of pendants. Designs are exclusive to Just Trade.
The boys select a Tagua nut which is as close to the desired finished shape as possible, the nut is then formed using a variety of sanding processes and polished to achieve a smooth surface. The eyes are made by drilling into the nut and filling the hole with ground up Tagua shell, then sealed with varnish.
Keep an eye out next week for our blog post about the lads in Sosote.
