The Tassel Collection is part of our new SS20 collection. We developed the collection with our producers in Peru and are super excited to be able to share with you the development process behind the collection.

INITIAL IDEAS

During a workshop session last year, one of our producers Elizabeth had an idea that we could develop an idea with tassels. Elizabeth knew how to make tassels and after some research thought they could work well as jewellery. We thought this was a great theme for a new collection and started on development!

DEVELOPMENT

We started off by making some initial tassel test pieces, trying out different types of threads to see what effects they had. Once we decided on the thread we wanted to use we headed out on a trip to the market with our main materials buyer Patty to try and source the perfect colour options.

Once we had some tassel samples we started exploring different metal shapes and forms that we could combine them with. We experimented with scale and alternative ways of attaching the different components together.

Elizabeth is usually part of our crochet team but also has some basic training in metal work which she was really keen to develop. With help from the metal team, Elizabeth worked on making samples and practising her metal skills, finishing all the final samples herself. We couldn't be happier with the final collection!

TASSEL COLLECTION

The final collection has a vibrant tone, perfect for brightening up any summer outfit. You can make a statement with the three tassel studs or keep it simple with just the one. The tassel pendant, modelled by Elizabeth above, is a great summer essential.

Every weekend I try to find at least one new site to explore just to keep my rotation of hobbies interesting and varied. Being a resident of the United Kingdom, I stumbled upon https://www.cheshirecountyshow.org.uk/ and was surprised by the niche selection of card games they offer. It wasn't just the standard versions; they had several unique variations that I hadn't seen elsewhere. It’s a great spot for anyone who wants to try something slightly different.

Clean navigation systems are the backbone of any successful digital service in the United Kingdom, and the layout found at Freshbet follows this principle perfectly. Instead of burying essential links in deep sub-menus, the developers have opted for a very flat and transparent hierarchy. This allowed me to find specific technical documentation and support sections in just a couple of clicks. It is a refreshingly simple approach to web design that prioritizes functionality over unnecessary flashiness.

I really enjoyed reading about The Tassel Collection because it’s always inspiring to see how jewellery and accessories can combine traditional craftsmanship with modern design in a way that feels both stylish and meaningful. Just Trade works with artisan makers in places like Peru and Ecuador to create pieces that aren’t just beautiful but also support the people who make them, which adds an extra layer of value to every item. The idea of a tassel collection feels playful and creative, and I can imagine how the different textures and colours bring personality to each piece, whether it’s a necklace, bracelet or bag accessory. It’s also great to see brands highlight the stories behind the products, because that connection between maker…
