Stockist of the Month | British Legion

The Royal British Legion was founded in 1921 as a voice for the ex-Service community as a merger of four organisations: the Comrades of the Great War, the National Association of Discharged Sailors and Soldiers, the National Federation of Discharged and Demobilized Sailors and Soldiers and the Officers’ Association. The organisation helps through welfare, comradeship and representation as well as being the Nation’s custodian of Remembrance.

Most people’s association with The Royal British Legion is through their annual Poppy Appeal. The origin of the red Flanders poppy as a modern-day symbol of Remembrance was the inspiration of American YMCA worker, Miss Moina Michael. After coming across the poem entitled “In Flanders Field”, which mentions the Poppy in it’s last verse, she vowed always to wear a red poppy as a sign of remembrance. It would become an emblem for “keeping the faith with all who died”. Just Trade have created a bespoke poppy for The Royal British Legion that is available to buy

through The Poppy Shop. All profits from every product sold from The Poppy Shop will be paid to The Royal British Legion Trading Limited which gives it’s taxable profits to The Royal British Legion.
