Stockist of the Month | Tate Modern

Since it opened in May 2000, more than 40 million people have visited Tate Modern. It is now one of the UK’s top three tourist attractions and generates an estimated £100 million in economic benefits to London annually.

Based in a former Power station (Bankside Power Station) on the South side of the Thames, the architecture alone is incredible. Designed originally by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott (who also designed Battersea Power Station), after the Power Station was finally closed in 1981, it took till 1995 to announce that Herzog & de Meuron were to reinvent the building to create the Tate Modern.

The Tate Modern is the national gallery of international modern art, with collections ranging from 1900 to present day. Their massive Turbine Hall which once housed the electricity generators, now is used to contain large scale, specially-commissioned works. Artists have included Ai Weiwei – Sunflower Seeds, Olafur Eliasson – The Weather Project and Rachel Whiteread – Embankment.

This year Just Trade created a bespoke jewellery range for the Tate including multiple variations of brass charms and chains. The idea is that you choose a chain and then create your own necklace by picking a selection of charms. If you haven’t made one already, make sure you head down soon, before they run out.
