World Shop is a gem of a shop with a large range of fair trade crafts, food and household items. The shop is situated right at the heart of Reading’s town centre and is associated with the lovely Reading International Solidary Centre (RISC). RISC works with schools and community groups to raise the profile of global issues and promote action for sustainability, human rights and social justice.
World Shop is one of the UK’s largest Fair Trade shops and a member of BAFTS (British Association of Fair Trade Shops & Suppliers). The aim of the shop is to raise awareness of Fair Trade through the products it sells as well as encouraging the use of eco friendly household products.
A few weeks ago, Laura was lucky enough to visit RISC and World Shop and hold a talk on International Women’s Day about Just Trade and women in the business environment. You can see a taster of the talk above - filmed by the fabulous Fergus Haworth.
We can’t speak highly enough of the work RISC and World Shop do, so be sure to pop into the shop and cafe if you’re in the area and pick up some Fair Trade treats while your there
