The Ethical Trading Company works with charities supporting vulnerable people in India and Zimbabwe. Their beautiful accessories and clothes are hand made, providing local people a fair wage and skills training that enables them to support themselves and their families.

 

The handmade leather journals are made by Musta and his brothers in a village just outside of Rajasthan, Western India. The paper is made entirely from "khadda", unbleached, hardspun, cotton rags left over from the garment industry. Khadda paper benfits the community in two ways: as the process of paper making from khadda is more labour intensive than making paper from wood, it means that more local people can be employed, and as no trees are used, the environment around the village is also protected.
