In the mid 1990s Julia Castle (now Crellin) worked with Latin-link in Lima Peru. During that time she started a jewellery making project with her friend Ruth Pacheco to provide work for unemployed women. Laura has been involved with the project, called Achkiy, for 10 years, helping with training and design advice.
Just Trade was formed in June 2006 to provide a route to market for small, fair trade projects like Achkiy and give professional advice on design, marketing and business management where required.
Just Trade currently imports and markets fair trade jewellery, clothing, cards, soft furnishings & accessories from Peru, Cambodia, Africa, India and Nepal, and we are constantly on the lookout for new projects we can work with.

David Cave, Chairman
David has been involved in development since the early 1970s when he did VSO in Colombia. During the 1980s, he was director of Opportunities for the Disabled in London where he initiated a number of schemes to help people with disabilities find employment. More recently he co-founded a micro bank in Ukraine, which has led to the creation of over 70 jobs. Dave is also a director of a number of companies in the West Midlands.
Laura Frith, Director
Laura studied at the School of Jewellery in Birmingham and at the Royal College of Art in London. She is currently a visiting tutor on the Silversmithing and Jewellery degree course at London Metropolitan University and also designs and makes her own work.
Melanie Cave, Director
Melanie studied French, Spanish & Teaching at Texas A&M University and then completed a Masters of Business Administration at the University of Liverpool. She has been a manager working in various charities and NGOs and travelled extensively in the developing world.
Julia Crellin, Non-Exectutive Director
Julia is director of Achkiy Crafts SRL in Lima, Peru which she founded over 12 years ago. She has lived and worked in Peru for many years and her understanding of the Peruvian culture and the pressures facing a small work creation project that is a growing business are invaluable to Just Trade. Julia and her husband Andi are planning to return to Peru shortly to pioneer new work and continue to oversee the work of Achkiy.
Sarah Stansfield, Company Secretary,
Sarah is trained as a chartered accountant with KPMG and has worked with various companies in London and now runs her own accountancy firm in Worcester.
